How could you blame her? Because Eni Skoien allegedly got angry enough to hit her husband, she was the one who had to spend two nights in jail. And she's the one who is featured in a police mug shot with her hair in a fright. That's pretty unfair. Can you imagine what would have happened had the situation been reversed?
Had this 55-year-old man walked in and caught his 36-year-old wife with two strapping young men . . . in the children's playroom . . . at 1 in the morning, it would have gotten ugly. He wouldn't have had to hit her. She would have fled.
If she didn't move fast enough, he would have likely dragged her through the house and kicked her out of the front door. Eni Skoien, who is 5 feet 4 inches and 110 pounds, couldn't possibly drag the beefy Skoien out of the house.
All she could do was pummel him with fists and the closest object at hand, according to the charges. Eni Skoien, who wasn't accused of attacking the hookers, allegedly drew her husband's blood.
"I called police because I thought I was going to be killed," Gary Skoien told police.
Her husband has already secured a protection order keeping his wife away from him and their children, which is a mockery. How many married women would have blamed Eni Skoien had she sneaked downstairs with a weapon and chased the man and the hookers out of her home? Very few.
While the attack could legally be labeled domestic battery, morally Eni Skoien was defending herself against gross mental abuse. You just don't do that to someone.
Even if the couple were estranged and living in separate parts of the house, that doesn't give him the right to flaunt prostitutes in the marital home. The economy is bad but not that bad.
But I think Gary Skoien is too slick to be caught with hookers. His blatant disrespect was designed to push his wife's buttons and ensure that she's on the losing side of a looming divorce battle.
This conflict also shows how easily our domestic violence laws can be twisted to help the wicked. Because Eni Skoien cracked under her husband's mental abuse, she was the one who spent two days in a jail cell. Yet it is Gary Skoien who behaved badly. But he is so politically connected, he won't have a problem dumping his wife and obtaining custody of his children. Eni Skoien was in trouble long before she walked into the playroom.
Her only source of power came from holding her husband's affection. Now that the marriage has soured, she is expected to put up with whatever. Obviously, what Eni Skoien allegedly did wasn't very smart. Now she will need a skilled lawyer to get the protection order lifted. That's why violence is never a solution. Still, in a situation like this, a few whacks might be the only way a woman can hold onto her dignity.

Why would you printy that shit? Mary Mitchell and her colums are all full of racsist shit. She condemned the Duke Lacrosse players, even after the stripper confessed to having made the whole rape scenario up. Here is Mitchell again pleading with the public to understand why its ok for a woman to hit a man, but not the other way around. Violence is not the answer . She says so in her column, but then continues to try to have you empathize with the woman in the story. FUCK THAT. CHris Brown, FUCK YOU, IKE TURNER, FUCK YOU. Let's not forget to blame Rhihanna and Tina Turner for their blame. FUCK YOU STUPID BITCHES. You get beat once, that should be it. Man or woman, put up with it once, get ready for a lifetime of eating shit. You want sympathy? Go surround yourself with other gutless cowards to scared to stand up for themselves. Stupid columns like like make ME want to beat Rihanna, Tina Turner, IKE turner, Chris Brown, and any other scumbag. Fucking idiots.

i agree there is shared responsibility between both parties in a violent situation if it's not the first occurrence. but, it can't be a 50/50 thing. i mean, if a man hits a woman and says, 'it will never get better than this' then hell yeah the woman is an idiot to stay. but men don't say that...they lie and cheat and do whatever it takes to brainwash someone into thinking it was a one-time thing and there's only love in the relationship yadda yadda yadda, you know? we can't pretend men and women are separate but equal here. you, as a misogynist, are first to put women down, but it's really not all as easy as you think.
By the way...do cops just get to decide who's to blame and who started what when, at the crime scene?
hit someone go to jail. One's buttons are pushed on a daily basis, it is the smart ones who walk away. Imagine had she just grabbed a vid cam and filmed it. Posted on youTube and let the internet do the work? Thinking calmly is the key, and if u can control urself, then do it for what's really important. She had kids, how did she think this was going to end? In this world, we like to blame everyone else, but really, all she had to do was stay calm. He took a risk, if this was done intentionally, by trying to push her buttons...her dumb ass gave in.
