Never gonna give you up

I have just found the Holy Grail! It cost next to nothing, and is on the way to my home as we speak. I found it on Ebay, after years of searching. Ladies and gentlemen, the desperation in the air is a tangible rope around my neck, choking me and blurring the line between cold life and fuzzy dreams. I simply cannot wait anymore. An autographed copy of a Rick Astley cd is on its way to my house! Go ahead, try to find one. I guarantee you wont. “Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down……” Dance, I know you want to. The dolcit tones of one Mr. Rick Astley will soon fill my home. I will frame the autographed cd cover, and hang it in my living room for the world to see. I have just gotten the hardest autograph to get nowadays. It would be easier to get the Pope to autograph a copy of Mien Kampf than it would be to get Rick to sign stuff.

Apparently, Mr. Astley has been the butt of a phenomena called Rick Rolling. People send each other website links and when those links are opened, the page contains a video of Rick singing “Never gonna give you up.” Apparently, Rick is upset. Listen to the lyrics man! “Never gonna run around, and hurt you.” To his credit, he never has run around, he has always been there. He said he would never hurt us, and we re-paid that kindness by making him a joke.

I can already picture him. Sad, bitter, with the voice of a reluctant angel. I can see him sitting in a dark corner just thinking angry thoughts. Unable to speak because when he does, it sounds heavenly, which only adds to his pain. But you knew that Rick! You said it yourself “You know the rules, so do I (So do I)” You harmonized over synthesizer beats the pain that would come from baring your soul to the world. You dared to do it anyway. As a fan I just wanted to let you know how your music moved me. And if I could, I would sing back to you in a soft voice that only you and I could hear:
