Raphael De La Ghetto on.............

Hello Dear Friends,

Raphael De La Ghetto has returned to discuss art with you.  Today we look at Jacob Lawrences's DAYBREAK.  It's an interesting piece because we get to see a stylized portriat of Harriet Tubman.  We see her tired, resting, with what seems to be runaway slaves.  We get a good look at her feet based on the angle of the painting, which puts you right at eye-level with them.  They are cracked, and discolored in some areas, which lets you know how worn they are.  Basically we get a good idea of how fragile Harriet was, and how much she sacrificed to help slaves escape.  Depth Perception and Angle are used to great affect.

Join me next week when I discuss the Travesty of Depeche Mode or the Cure not being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but including Buffalo Springfield.
